Genova

Genoa, capital of the Liguria region, is located at the farthest inmost part of the Gulf of Genoa, along the foothills of the Appennines, with a coastal extension of about 35 km.
It has a population of 676,000 inhabitants and it has been called the “city of the cities” and the “city of the contrasts”, city of the see and mountains, of industries and services, of handicrafts and business, in which different cultures have always lived.

Genoa is a town rich in contrasts, you only need a few steps to find yourself immersed in its glorious ancient past or walking on the path of new daring symbols of a town facing the future.
If you get to Genoa from the sea, the impact is spectacular. The town shows its visitors all its grandeur. Lying on the coast, it stretches out, climbing the hills offering a dramatic view.

The Old Port holds both the old and new town in an harmony of amazing shapes and colours. It preserves the old symbols, like the Lighthouse (Lanterna) and the marvellous perspective of the ancient Palaces.
The Historic Centre has returned to the splendeur of the past, after being neglected for so long. What, years ago, was run down, today shines radiant , renovated and back to life. Palazzo Ducale, the Palaces of Rolli UNESCO World Heritage Site, via Garibaldi “Strada Nuova”.

Today the visitors really see a town that has regained its nickname and title: “Superba” (“The Superb”).
Liguria and Genoa gastronomy shows the characteristics of taste typical of its area and of the creativity of its people. Genoa people, in fact, have a simple cooking rich in vegetables and herbs, with a wide use of olive oil: all this helped make up delicious, tasty dishes also very natural and attractive.
