The experts participating in the Gastronomare Festival Debate about the future of mediterranean markets, coincided to point out the existence of many common elements in the configuration and reality of the Mediterranean markets, in a way that allows to speak about a “Mediterranean model of market".
The main characteristics of this model would be the direct sale of the small trader towards the customer, based on fresh product served in a very personal way in some markets placed in strategic places of the neighbourhood and provided with diverse products and of different price.
This model could be useful for the construction of a better European Union and especially advantageous with respect to the model of cold trade and depersonalized attention that the big commercial area and surfaces and big supermarkets in the Anglo-Saxon countries offer.
The Project MedEmporion will work to identify the characteristics of this Mediterranean model and how it shapes itself in each local reality. A Report of Situation of the markets will help to visualize
