“Med Emporion Research on Local Markets in the Mediterranean Area”.
The interviews were divided by type of products (fruit, vegetables, meet, fish), by the location of the stands (outdoor, indoor, farmers), by the clientele and interviews done at associations dealing with markets here in Turin. The questions regarded the operating hours of the market, the location of markets, the customers habits and the benefits they get by buying there.

From the beginning of the year Conservatoria undertook a series of interviews at the Porta Palazzo market for the "Med Emporion Research on Local Markets in the Mediterranean Area".
The interviews have been made in different periods of the year (spring and summer) in order to find out which local products are present on the market and in which season. In this way we were given an idea of the seasonal products that we can find on the Porta Palazzo market and an idea on their percentage on the hole.
From the interviews done with the clientele we've learned their shopping, cooking and eating habits, how often they go to the market and how much they are willing to spend.
Having gathered all this information from the sellers and the clientele, we've proceeded with our research by interviewing different association that have a say in the matter. Conservatoria met Amiat, the association in charge of the cleaning, recycling the waste that's left each day after the operation hours of the markets. We've talked with the representatives of the police department that in charge of keeping peace and order in markets, with farmer's representative, as well as with the president of the hole-sale market (CAAT Centro Agro-Alimentare Torino).
In the months to follow we will return to the market to see the percentage of local products in autumn and we will do a study-visit at the hole-sale market because, from the interviews done by now, the majority of the seller of Porta Palazzo get their supplies from CAAT.

Another aspect of our activity has been the preparation for the Genoa Food Market Festival. Seeing that this will be the last Food Market of the Medemporion project, a great deal of thought has been put into the selection of the producers that will be present in September in Genoa. From cheese to wine, from pastry to chocolate, from bread to jam and marmalades, all the best of the Turin region will be present at the event.
